Q.  Are Magnetic Media’s displays only HD?

A.  Yes. Our current models and planned future models will be High-Definition to maintain the highest level of content quality.

Q.  Can our company retrofit existing LCD’s or do we need new monitors?

A.  No. Magnetic Media’s displays are assembled in a static-free “clean room” environment to assure maximum quality control.  Secondly, the Lenticular lenses that 3D-enableTM the LCD monitors are also specially designed and specific to each display manufacture and therefore cannot be placed on other displays.

Q.  Can I still watch regular television or “2D-Video” on a 3D-enabledTM display?

A.  Yes. Magnetic Media’s lens will not visibly affect any 2D video source, TV/DVD/Cable. However, small computer text that is of extremely low resolution will be difficult to read through the lens.  Both 2D and 3D video can be displayed making the Archetype a fully functional 3DTV.

Q.  How is the viewing angle of the display affected by the 3D modification?

A.  Generally LCD’s have an approximate side-to-side viewing of 176®.  After modification viewing of 3D content is reduced to approximately 115®.

Q.  How does the display receive and playback content?

A.  The Archetype 3D Display requires a PC for content playback.  Our display unit pricing includes a playback unit which can be networked using off-the-shelf software or digital signage content distribution software.

Q.  How does the system work?

A.  Magnetic Media’s patent-pending display system uses specially designed lenses and content to achieve the 3D effect

Q.  Is the Archetype 3D Display LCD or Plasma?  Why?

A.  Magnetic Media’s 3D technology utilizes a “Lenticular Lens” which is precision overlaid on a High-Definition LCD monitor.  The company’s technology can work on either plasma or LCD, however to maintain the highest level of content quality Magnetic Media only develops its lenses for LCD displays.

Q. What is a “Lenticular Lens”?

A.  A Lenticular lens is a single convex lens that magnifies light through a prism effect. The term Lenticular often refers to a printed image that shows depth or motion as the viewing angle changes. The term was invented and coined by the physicist Dr. Joseph Robert Fraler from Dallas, TX. But in general Lenticular is a term for the lens effect that creates a convex perspective of multiple images or light sources, but not necessarily a physical printed image. This Lenticular technology can be used to create a Lenticular image through the process of Lenticular printing.  Magnetic Media has enhanced this technique to be used on LCD monitors to create the Archetype (3D-enabledTM) displays.
